The Sunland Park Police Department recently conducted a traffic enforcement operation in response to resident concerns about speeding in parts of the city.

Over the past several weeks, the department received complaints regarding vehicles traveling at unsafe speeds. In response, officers increased patrol presence and carried out a focused enforcement effort. During the operation, 40 citations were issued for various moving violations.

These efforts are focused on prevention. Speeding and other unsafe driving behaviors increase the risk of crashes and injuries. Addressing those behaviors early helps protect residents, families, and everyone who travels through Sunland Park.

The Police Department will continue to conduct traffic enforcement operations in the coming weeks in areas where concerns have been reported.
