Sunland Park Police Department Celebrates Student Interns

SUNLAND PARK, NM — As the academic year draws to a close, the Sunland Park Police Department (SPPD) is proud to recognize two outstanding individuals who have spent their final semester of high school serving the community. Interns Itzel C. and Diego S., both seniors at Santa Teresa High School (STHS), have successfully completed their internship programs with the department.

Throughout their tenure, Itzel and Diego demonstrated a high level of professionalism and responsibility. Their work supported daily operations and provided them with a firsthand look at the complexities of municipal law enforcement. By assisting staff and engaging with the department’s mission, both students proved to be valuable assets to the SPPD team.

The success of this internship is stems from the ongoing partnership between the City of Sunland Park and the Santa Teresa High School Criminal Justice Program. This collaboration allows students to step out of the classroom and into real-world environments, gaining practical experience that prepares them for future careers in public safety and beyond.

As Itzel and Diego prepare for graduation, the City of Sunland Park extends its gratitude for their dedication. Their commitment to public service serves as an inspiring example for their peers and the community at large.
