The Sunland Park Community Library officially launched its 2026 Summer Reading program, “Unearth a Story,” bringing together local families and city departments to celebrate literacy and community growth. The kickoff event served as gathering space designed to foster an engaging learning for residents of all ages.
A notable highlight of the day was the active participation of the Sunland Park Police Department. Officers engaged directly with local families, underscoring a commitment to building strong, positive relationships within the community. This collaboration with the library helped transform the event into a space where safety and education intersect, showing how different facets of the city work in tandem to support local engagement.
Attendees can look forward to a full schedule of programming through the summer months, with weekly sessions every Monday at 3:00 PM; featuring a special Saturday event on July 25. These activities are structured to build creativity and keep children and families connected to the library throughout the season.
“Unearth a Story” is tied to the Collaborative Summer Library Program nonprofit. To get involved, please contact the city of Sunland Park’s community library at (575) 874 – 0873 or library@sunlandpark-nm.gov.
