The City of Sunland Park and the South Central Regional Transit District (SCRTD) recently coordinated a high-impact educational excursion to the El Paso Holocaust Museum and Study Center (EPHM) for local seniors. This visit marks the latest milestone in a growing partnership aimed at providing Sunland Park’s older residents with reliable, door-to-door access to the region’s premier cultural and educational institutions.
The collaboration utilizes SCRTD’s specialized, ADA-compliant fleet to bridge the gap between residents’ homes and significant regional landmarks. By providing a dedicated transportation link, the City and SCRTD are removing the logistical barriers that often prevent seniors from engaging in lifelong learning opportunities outside of municipal borders.
At the museum, the group participated in the Dimensions in Testimony exhibit, an interactive experience developed by the USC Shoah Foundation. This technology allowed residents to engage in real-time, simulated conversations with Holocaust survivors through pre-recorded high-definition interviews.
The City of Sunland Park continues to prioritize senior mobility as a core component of its infrastructure and service goals. This transportation service remains available for daily trips to and from the Senior Center, as well as for scheduled community excursions.
Residents interested in registering for the senior transportation program are encouraged to contact the Sunland Park Senior Center directly at +1 575-587-4060.
