Preparing for Sunland Park’s May 2nd Tire Clean-Up: Your Step-by-Step Guide

Sunland Park is moving toward a cleaner, safer community. Disposing of old tires properly prevents illegal dumping and eliminates breeding grounds for mosquitoes and other pests. To ensure a smooth experience for everyone, we’ve outlined exactly how you can prepare for the upcoming initiative on May 2, 2026.

Confirm Your Eligibility (The Map Rule)

While we often use the names Sunland Park and Santa Teresa interchangeably, this specific event is funded for residents within the City of Sunland Park municipal limits.

Check the Map: We have provided a link to the [Official Residency Map] to help you verify if your address falls within the service area.

Be Prepared: If you are using Direct Drop-Off, please have your water bill (CRRUA) and ID ready. The gate staff will use these to confirm you are within the designated cleanup zone.

Prep Your Tires

To keep the line moving and ensure we can recycle the materials:

  • Remove the Rims: We cannot accept tires that are still mounted.

  • Residential Only: We cannot accept tires from commercial shops or heavy industrial/semi-truck equipment.

Choose Your Lane

Curb Pickup

For maximum convenience, residents can place approved tires at the curb in front of their homes for collection by City crews.

Direct Drop Off

Residents who prefer to transport their own items can bring them directly to the Sunland Park Sports Complex (4700 McNutt Rd.) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Day-of Essentials

  • Check the Weather: If it’s a typical Sunland Park windy day, ensure tires are secured so they don’t roll into the roadway before the crews arrive.

  • Stay Informed: Follow our social media pages for real-time updates on line lengths at the Sports Complex.
