Residents are participating in free weekly activities at the Sunland Park Library as part of the 2026 Summer Reading Program. This year’s theme, “Unearth a Story,” pairs literacy goals with hands-on learning projects.
Recent sessions drew local families to create individual crafts. Children built miniature dinosaur terrariums in glass jars using sand, moss, and small figures. They also constructed colorful paper rockets complete with hanging streamers. Parents and children worked together at the library workshop tables, using basic materials like safety scissors, glue, and recycled cardboard tubes.
The library hosts these events to provide regular, safe educational activities during the summer months. All supplies are provided at no cost to participants.
The remaining schedule for the summer includes the following events:
July 14 (3:00 PM): Made Just for You (Custom tote bags and 3D pens)
July 25 (11:00 AM): End of Summer Reading Program Celebration
