The City of Sunland Park successfully launched a new community tradition with its First Annual 4th of July Celebration, drawing residents from across the region to the Sunland Park Sports Complex for a full day of family-friendly activities, live music, and a spectacular fireworks display.
The community celebration began as gates opened at 1:00 PM, with families setting up lawn chairs and blankets across the park grounds. Organized activities kicked off at 5:00 PM, transforming the complex into a lively hub of entertainment. Children took advantage of the Family Fun Zone, which featured jumping balloons, professional face painting, and a water splash area, while others enjoyed pony rides on the grassy lawn.
Live entertainment kept the energy high throughout the evening. Local DJs set the tone before a special live presentation by Freddy Hernández brought attendees up to the main stage. Local food trucks (camiones de comida) and artisan vendor tables lined the venue, providing regional food and shopping options to the crowd.
As night fell, the celebration culminated in a historic, inaugural fireworks show at 9:30 PM. The display lit up the night sky over the sports complex, capping off a successful community event focused on family, tradition, and patriotic celebration.
