High school juniors and seniors in Sunland Park and throughout Doña Ana County can now apply for the Land of Enchantment Young Ambassadors Program. The statewide initiative operates as a joint partnership between the Office of Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and the New Mexico Department of Transportation’s ¡Qué Linda! program.
The fellowship pairs high school students with regional organizations to complete environmental beautification and anti-litter projects. Selected students receive project management training, direct mentorship, and leadership development while working alongside local peers. During the inaugural June cohort, 14 youth ambassadors engaged over 300 volunteers across New Mexico, clearing more than seven tons of waste, hosting a Youth Beautification Summit, and launching civic education projects.
The program is open to high school juniors and seniors for the 2026–2027 academic year. Selected participants who complete the fellowship requirements receive a $3,000 stipend, with multiple students selected from each of the state’s six designated regions.
