Beginning Monday, June 9, 2025, Nine Degrees Construction will begin improvements at the intersection of Gila Drive and Mt. Cristo Rey Blvd. The project includes curb and gutter installation, sidewalk reconstruction, median and roundabout construction, striping, and permanent signage. Construction is expected to last approximately two months. Residents are advised of potential disruptions in the area during this period. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
Roadrunner Food Bank will host a free food distribution event on Saturday, June 28, 2025, beginning at 8:00 AM at the Sunland Park Sports Complex located at 4700 McNutt Rd. This event is open to all residents and will provide fresh food items to those in need. Please arrive early as supplies are limited.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking public comments regarding the construction of approximately 1.32 miles of new border barrier just south of Sunland Park. The project includes access roads, drainage gates, erosion control, and a 30-foot bollard-style barrier. Community members are invited to provide input on the potential environmental, cultural, and quality-of-life impacts not addressed in the 2015 Environmental Assessment. Comments will be accepted until July 3, 2025.
Chicanos Por La Causa and HELP New Mexico are now enrolling families in Head Start and Early Head Start programs at the Sunland Park location. These free programs support expectant parents and families with children from birth to age 5, offering services in a culturally inclusive environment.
Health and wellness services include:
• Physical development activities (indoor & outdoor)
• Nutritious meals and snacks
• Screenings for medical, dental, hearing, vision & behavioral needs
• Mental health support for children (as needed)

On June 4, 2025, the Sunland Park City Council approved funding for critical water infrastructure improvements and took formal action to establish a new City Utility Department. This proactive move ensures continued water service for residents following Doña Ana County’s decision to dissolve the joint CRRUA agreement. Learn more about the transition plan and upcoming projects.
The City of Sunland Park is currently completing turf maintenance and park improvement projects at Laurel Park and Hanson Circle. Residents can expect nighttime irrigation and turf recovery efforts at Laurel Park, while Hanson Circle is in the permitting phase of a new shade canopy installation. The City of Sunland Park invites all residents to participate in Clean Up Day on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Let’s come together to help keep our community clean by collecting trash from neighborhoods, parks, and public spaces!
