Casa de Peregrinos is expanding its reach in southern New Mexico by hiring staff for its location at 3465 McNutt in Sunland Park. As the area’s largest emergency food program, the organization distributes millions of pounds of food annually across Doña Ana County. The upcoming site openings will increase access to supplemental groceries for local families.
The organization is seeking a Sunland Park Pantry Coordinator to oversee daily distribution, manage local staff and volunteers, and build community partnerships. This non-exempt position offers 32 to 40 hours per week at a rate of $17.00 per hour, with an estimated start date of October 1, 2026. Candidates should possess strong computer skills, physical capability to lift up to 75 pounds, a valid driver’s license, and deep familiarity with the Sunland Park region. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
Additionally, four Program Assistant positions are available to support on-site operations. Reporting to the Deputy Director with daily guidance from the Pantry Coordinator, each assistant will focus on key operational areas such as intake, warehouse tasks, food assembly, or drive-up distribution. These roles are set for 25 hours per week at $15.00 per hour, with an estimated start date of November 1, 2026. Applicants need a high school diploma or equivalent experience, basic computer proficiency, and the physical ability to handle warehouse equipment and heavy lifting.

Casa de Peregrinos began operating in 1979 and has built a long history of addressing hunger across Doña Ana County. Operating out of its main hub in Las Cruces, the agency expanded its distribution capabilities to move over eight million pounds of groceries annually. While the central pantry provides a foundation for regional food security, residents living in southern Doña Ana County previously faced round trips of up to 50 miles to reach full-service distribution sites.
To eliminate those travel barriers, the City of Sunland Park and Casa de Peregrinos partnered to construct a dedicated satellite pantry at 3465 McNutt Road. Funded through state legislative capital outlay appropriations, city contributions, and state grant awards, the project creates a fully accessible, brick-and-mortar hub designed for indoor distributions, drive-up orders, and home delivery coordination. Once operational, the location will supply local households with nutritious food baskets, fresh produce, dairy, and essential staples directly within their own community.
