The Sunland Park Police Department has expanded its force with the addition of a new K-9 officer following the completion of a multi-month training program in Virginia.
Sergeant Duran and his partner, K-9 Simi, have officially joined active service in Sunland Park. The pair recently completed a three-month K-9 Academy course focused on field response and tactical operations.
Simi is a German Shepherd/Malinois mix.
The team will be deployed across the city to assist officers with patrol operations and community safety duties.
