Non-profit organization SK8 4KIDS completed a multi-activity youth initiative last week, combining back-to-school preparation, outdoor recreation, and leadership training for youth across Sunland Park and Santa Teresa.
The week’s programming featured recreational outings, including a trip to Western Playland for the local Teen Group, a weekend fishing trip, and ongoing Kids Club events. To help families prepare for the upcoming academic year, organizers also coordinated shopping trips for school clothes and supplies.
Through a sponsorship with skate footwear brands Etnies and éS Skateboarding, SK8 4KIDS distributed shoes to local youth and junior coaches. The partnership provides pro instructor pricing and equipment discounts to help maintain active programs in the area.
As part of the week’s events, participants joined organizers for a back-to-school shopping trip to pick out new clothes, shoes, and supplies for the upcoming academic year. The outing gave students the opportunity to select their own styles and gear up with confidence ahead of the first day of class.
A central focus of the recent programming is the expansion of the local Teen Group. Older participants are taking on active roles as junior coaches and leaders, helping manage events and mentor younger participants during Kids Club activities.
