SUNLAND PARK LEADERS TOUR SITE OF NEW REGIONAL FOOD PANTRY UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Sunland Park District One Councilor Mili Sandoval and District Five Councilor Maria Burciaga recently toured the future site of the Casa de Peregrinos regional food pantry. The site visit, documented in image_945445.jpg, highlighted structural progress on the facility located at 3465 McNutt Road. This project marks a substantial expansion of local food access for the municipality.

The upcoming facility will serve as a central hub for food distribution across the city and southern Doña Ana County. It will feature both indoor and drive-through services to ensure fast, reliable pickups for families. Casa de Peregrinos will manage the daily operations under a long-term lease agreement with the City of Sunland Park.

Securing the final piece of funding required a recent $719,338 grant from the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration. This allocation completed the budget alongside $3.75 million previously raised through state and local capital outlay funds.

The building will be fully ADA-compliant. Construction remains on schedule, with the grand opening projected for October 2026.
