SUNLAND PARK PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT LAUNCHES CITY-WIDE MOSQUITO CONTROL INITIATIVE

The City of Sunland Park Public Works Department has initiated vector control operations across multiple neighborhoods to minimize mosquito populations and safeguard public health. Crews are targeting areas with standing water by applying larvicide briquettes to ponding zones and conducting neighborhood fogging. These efforts focus on reducing the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses and improving daily comfort for residents.

The Public Works Department has completed treatments in the following sectors:

June 23, 2026

  • Anapra area

  • Riverside area (extending toward the river)

  • Carlos Aguirre area

  • Tierra Madre area

June 24, 2026

  • Ardovinos area (Operations were adjusted due to temporary equipment issues during the scheduled morning deployment)

June 26, 2026

  • San Gabriel area

  • La Entrada area

  • Rancho Santa Teresa area

  • Valencia area

  • Ross area

  • Manzana area

  • Elena area

  • Antone area

Standing water remains the primary breeding ground for mosquitos. The Public Works Department asks residents to assist in these health efforts by tipping over containers holding water around their homes, keeping weeds trimmed, and reporting persistent standing water on public property.
