The Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) has released its 2025 Consumer Confidence Report, confirming that municipal drinking water met all federal and state safety standards during the 2025 calendar year. The annual report details water quality metrics, testing results for regulated contaminants, and the status of ongoing infrastructure improvements across the utility service area.
Water samples drawn from the Mesilla Bolson Aquifer were monitored routinely throughout the year. Testing verified that levels for all regulated substances, including arsenic, lead, and copper, remained within acceptable Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) boundaries. Additionally, a comprehensive lead service line inventory submitted to state regulators confirmed that the local water system contains no lead service lines. Residents interested in reviewing the full inventory can obtain a copy directly from the utility authority.
The report also provides updates on utility corrections following a December 2023 state sanitary survey that noted fifty-eight system deficiencies. To date, fifty-five of those issues have been resolved. Staff completed the installation of a new level indicator at the Tierra Madre Tank on July 11, 2025, to improve water storage tracking and system management. The remaining three deficiencies involve the installation of automated treatment plant alarms and the remediation of erosion near the Tierra Madre Tank site. Both projects are engineered and scheduled for completion during the Fiscal Year 2026/2027 budget cycle.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Juan Carlos Crosby, CRRUA has systematically addressed legacy administrative challenges to restore regulatory alignment. The utility successfully resolved a 2024 testing delay by completing all required lead and copper sampling in May 2025. Staff concluded the necessary sampling in May 2025 and finalized the distribution of all pending consumer notices to local households by May 5, 2026. The complete water quality report is available online for public review, and physical copies can be accessed at 4700 McNutt Rd.
