The City of Sunland Park is partnering with regional nonprofit organization SK84Kids to host a free, two-week Summer SK8 Camp at the Sunland Park Sports Complex located at 4700 McNutt Rd.
The camp runs from June 29 to July 9, 2026. Sessions will take place Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with student pick-up scheduled by 1:00 PM. Daily lunch is provided for all participants. Enrollment is free and open to youth ages 8 to 15, with capacity strictly limited to 30 spaces to ensure high-quality instruction and safety.
A core focus of the program is teaching a structured, safe approach to skateboarding. Instruction emphasizes the proper use of safety gear, balance fundamentals, and situational awareness on and off the ramp. Beyond technical skills, the camp utilizes skateboarding as a tool for personal growth. SK84Kids provides dedicated mentorship designed to build resilience, confidence, and positive peer relationships among area youth.
The initiative highlights a broad collaborative effort to deliver diverse educational and recreational programming to local youth. Alongside core skateboarding lessons managed by SK84Kids, the camp features interactive technology and creative sessions powered by regional partners. Programming includes a VR Experience, a 3D Printing Class, Lego Day, and various arts and crafts activities.
This joint effort is further supported by regional entities and local businesses, including Garver, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, Crooks Skateshop, and MJ’s Gaming Cafe. By pooling civic, corporate, and nonprofit resources, the program delivers a multidimensional summer experience entirely free of charge to Sunland Park families.
