The City of Sunland Park announces that the intersection of Futurity Drive and Trifecta Drive is expected to reopen to traffic on June 16, 2026, pending final paving and weather conditions.
The roadway was temporarily closed to allow the Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) to complete repairs following a sinkhole caused by a collapsed wastewater manhole. During the closure, crews also completed rehabilitation of nearby manholes to prevent future issues and reduce the need for additional road closures.
Although the work required extended closure time due to site conditions, including high groundwater, completing these repairs together helped avoid additional disruptions and supported more efficient use of public resources.
With major underground work now complete, crews are finalizing asphalt restoration to safely reopen the intersection to residents and commuters.
The City appreciates the public’s patience during this closure and will continue coordinating with CRRUA to ensure reliable infrastructure and minimize impacts to the community.
