A Guide to Sunland Park Clean Up Day

Clean Up Day is one of the simplest ways residents can make an immediate difference in Sunland Park. For two days this month, City crews, volunteers, and community partners will be working across neighborhoods to remove bulky trash, reduce illegal dumping, and help keep shared spaces clean.

Sunland Park Clean Up Day will be held over two days:

• 02/21/2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• 02/22/2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Residents can take part in whichever way works best for them. Some households choose to place approved bulk items at the curb in front of their home for collection. Others prefer to load items and bring them directly to the Sunland Park Sports Complex at 4700 McNutt Road during event hours.

Both options help keep large items out of alleys, lots, and public spaces.

Clean Up Day is designed for bulk trash and large items that don’t fit into regular weekly pickup. Items should be placed neatly and safely to allow crews to collect them efficiently.

Some items are not accepted due to safety and environmental regulations. These include:

•  Tires

• Lithium batteries

• Paint and other hazardous materials
• Oil and gasoline
• Hot ashes

Tires and lithium batteries require special handling and must be taken to a designated drop-off location outside of Clean Up Day collection. Residents can safely dispose of tires lithium batteries at the following locations:

2120 Ohara Road, Anthony, NM 88021
2590 Visnaga Street, Anthony, NM 88011
1310 W Afton Road, La Mesa, NM 88044

This year’s Clean Up Day is supported by Breaking Bad Habits NM, a statewide anti-litter initiative focused on long-term prevention, education, and community responsibility. This event is for residents within Sunland Park city limits onlyResidents with questions about Clean Up Day can contact Rebeca Brito at (915) 549-2636 for assistance.
