On October 21, 2025, representatives from the City of Sunland Park visited the Village of Los Lunas to learn about how the community has managed growth and development surrounding the Meta Data Center.

The visit was hosted by the Village of Los Lunas and included presentations from local officials, the New Mexico Economic Development Department, and the Los Lunas School District. Discussions focused on topics such as infrastructure planning, public works, workforce development, and community partnerships.

City leaders from Sunland Park participated in the visit to gather information and learn from another New Mexico community’s experience managing large-scale projects. The goal was to understand how similar developments can impact local services, residents, and long-term planning efforts.

It’s important for us to look at what’s worked for other communities and learn from their experiences,” said Mayor Javier Perea. “Collaboration like this helps us build a stronger foundation for long-term success.”

No decisions or commitments were made during this visit, it was strictly an educational opportunity to exchange ideas and learn best practices that can guide responsible growth in Sunland Park.
