CRRUA Water Discoloration Notice

Dear Residents,

We want to inform you about the recent occurrence of discolored water in your area. The discoloration is due to the presence of naturally occurring iron and manganese in the potable water supply.

What is the cause of the discolored water?

The discolored water is a result of high-water demand in the area. When water velocity increases, it can shake up iron and manganese settled at the bottom of water pipes, leading to the color change.

Is the water safe to drink?

Yes, the water remains safe for consumption. The discoloration affects the appearance but does not affect the water’s safety.

What is being done to resolve the issue?

Our dedicated staff is actively addressing the situation by flushing hydrants in the affected areas. This process will help clear the lines. We also recommend that residents flush their individual water lines for 20-30 minutes or until the water runs clear to speed up the clearing of the lines.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your understanding as we work diligently to rectify the situation.
