 ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – FIRE Job Description
Starting pay $10.00/hr.

Will provide a variety of routine and complete administrative, clerical and technical work in assistance to the Fire Chief; performing the day-to-day tasks necessary to ensure accurate and timely performance of duties. Work is performed under general supervision and reports directly to Fire Chief.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Completion of secondary education preferred.
  3. Minimum three (3) years’ related experience or any combination of training and experience that indicate possession of skills, knowledge, and abilities listed within this description.
  4. Prior experience as Administrative Assistant preferred.
  5. Experience in communicating and handling a variety of customer service issues.
  6. Experience in office organization.
  7. A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. 
  8. Must hold or be able to obtain a vehicle driver’s license as per City of Sunland Park Policy.

PURCHASING AGENT   -   Job Description
Starting Pay: $21.63/hr. 

Position plans, coordinates and manages the operations of the all city purchasing; oversees the development or develops bid documents, proposals, and contracts in compliance with state and local laws;  develops and manages procurement policies, specifications, and contracts; provides advice and counsel to management and staff and assist departments in administration of existing contracts.  Work is performed under the general supervision of the Finance Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
  2. Six (6) years public (government) sector purchasing experience.  A combination of education , training and experience in public (government) sector purchasing may be applied in accordance with City of Sunland Park Personnel Policy.


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  1. Registration as Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) is preferred; (if not certifies, must acquire within 6 months of hire)
  2. Must hold or be able to obtain a valid driver license as per CIty of SUnland Park Policy

PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION (1 Volunteer Position Available) 
The City of Sunland Park is recruiting interested individuals to fill a vacant position on the board of the Planning & Zoning Commission. Take this opportunity to volunteer your time in civic service for the people of Sunland Park and help make a difference in the development of this city.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Municipal planning, working on comprehensive plans for responsible growth & community development, making recommendations to the City Council on all requests for zoning, annexations, subdivisions and related land-use issues.
  • P&Z Commissioners must be present no less than seventy-five percent (75%) of all regularly scheduled meetings, not including workshops.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Must be a legal resident of the City of Sunland Park.
  • Land-use experience preferred, but not required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

LODGER'S TAX ADVISORY BOARD (1 Volunteer Position Available) 
The City of Sunland Park is recruiting interested individuals to fill one position available for the Lodger’s Tax Advisory Board.

BACKGROUND.  The purpose of the law was to impose a tax which will be paid by persons using commercial lodging accommodations in the City of Sunland Park, NM.  The tax will provide revenues for the purpose of advertising, publicizing and promoting tourist-related facilities, attractions, transportation systems, etc.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • The Advisory Board shall advise the mayor and the governing body related to expenditure of funds generated by the Lodger’s Tax for advertising, publicizing, and promoting tourist-related attractions, facilities and events in the municipality.
  • The five (5) member Advisory board shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • The volunteer must be an owner or operator of and industry located within the municipality that primarily provides services or products to tourists.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
