Peter R. Ibarbo III
Public Information Officer
A descendent of the Spanish trader and settler, Antonio Gil Y'Barbo, who founded the historic town of Nacogdoches , Texas in 1779, we are proud to have Mr. Peter R. Ibarbo III as our Public Information Officer.
Mr. Ibarbo comes from a long generation of Hispanic Americans. Mr. Ibarbo grew up in the small town of San Miguel, New Mexico located roughly 40 miles from the U.S./Mexico border. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration & a Minor in Marketing from New Mexico State Univesrity. Prior to joining the City of Sunland Park, Mr. Ibarbo served as the Southwest Region's Deputy District Director for U.S. Congressman Steve Pearce of New Mexico's 2nd Congressional District.
Mr. Ibarbo has an extensive background in public relations and has lived in Washington D.C., Mexico City, Chihuahua City, El Paso, Texas, Cd. Juarez and Southern New Mexico. He was part of the marketing team that helped develop New Mexico's booming industrial area in Santa Teresa between the years of 2000-2010. He was instrumental in helping establish the state of New Mexico's first trade assistance program called the International Business Accelerator (IBA), where he followed in his ancestor's footsteps facilitating trade as the IBA's Senior Trade Specialist.
Mr. Ibarbo has taught courses in Economics, Business, and Strategic Management. He served on the Board of Directors of the Las Cruces Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and served on the Board of the New Mexico Border Industrial Association.
